Annabelle Breakey
Personal Background: Annabelle Breakey is a food, lifestyle and still life photographer. She was born around the 1960s, and as a child was always making crafts. She went to school at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco. She graduated in 1990 with a BFA in photography. After college she purchased a photography studio in 2010, near the Dogpatch neighborhood in San Francisco.
Style: To quote Annabelle, she loves "pretty light on pretty stuff." She likes using both bright colors, white backgrounds, and natural light, to make clean and fresh photos. She will also do highly technical shoots with products, and studio lighting. Overall, her photos all have a fresh and clean feel. She will also go out of her comfort zone, and plan wild travel shoots in different countries.
Philosophy: Breakey's main goal in her photos is to make something more than just pleasing to the eye, but meaningful as well. She likes to see how humans, and things can be captured in a moment that transcends time. Annabelle likes to include emotion in her photos, like happiness with bright colors and new patterns, or adventure with all of the different places she explores and takes photos at.
Influences: Annabelle has influenced my photography mainly in the way I viewed the lighting of a photo. She inspired me to focus on finding lighting that complements both the subject of the photo, and the vibe I am trying to have with my images. I have tried to adapt he way she uses bright, and fun colors into my photography as well. I have noticed the effect different types of colors have on the overall mood of the photo. She has also inspired me because she has worked with many large companies that I love, such as Apple, and Starbucks.
Compare and Contrast:
I believe my first image is the most similar to Annabelle's work. While the bananas have slightly different colors, The general composition of the two photos are very similar. My second photo was the most difficult to create. In theory, the photo would be easily recreated, but that was not the case. While I am not very proud of this image, I feel I did the best I could with the materials I had. My third image was the most fun to create, because I was able to play around a lot. The lighting is slightly off, and I didn't have the right bowl, but with the help of photoshop I feel I made my photo look as close to hers as possible.

Personal Artist Statement:
Taking such professional photos was very challenging, but very fun. I had a good time trying to recreate such thought out photos with an iPhone camera. All of the materials I used to take these photos, I already had in my house, so I could get straight to shooting. I found a good locations, and then began on maneuvering my subjects to fit Annabelle's photos. My favorite photo was my banana picture, because I was able to play around in Photoshop to increase the contrast between the banana and the background. I was also able to bring a lot of vibrance and warmth into my photos.
